QUESTION OF THE DAY
Does God Speak?
God speaks. I believe the most profound way of all is through His Son Jesus Christ. Through Him we hear the voice of God’s Love and compassion for us. The bible says in Hebrews 1:1-2 that “God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, last of all, In these last days hath spoken to us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also He made the world” God speaks to us always in divers ways and through myriads of mediums; the question is are we in position to hear Him? God speaks through Dreams and visions. Some have claimed to hear Him audibly. He speaks through people, or through the Pastor’s sermons. When we are tuned in to the right channel we will hear him. It may not be a loud voice to arrest us but it will be gentle and kind enough to have our attention. God speaks through our conscience at times and mostly He speaks to us through the Holy Spirit. When God speaks we are comforted, there is peace and calmness in our hearts. We may never know why but there is that calmness within that says this is God. God sometimes speaks to us through warning signs, circumstances or delay. God’s voice will never tell us to do anything that is contrary to His will. God speaks universally to us through His word the Holy Bible God speaks every second of every minute we just need to position ourselves to hear Him. He may speak through a stalled vehicle or whatever He wills to get our attention. When we learn to obey His voice in little and mundane things of life we will begin to hear Him clearer in bigger things and circumstances. Yes God speaks all the time but those who have mastered the art of obedience hear him the most. God speaks compassion through the hungry girl at the grocery store, he speaks shelter through the homeless under the bridge, He speaks hope through the stillness of the night, and peace through the raging of the sea. God’s comforting voice can be heard in the midst of our chaos if we learn to focus on Him rather than on our circumstances. God has spoken some words already in Scriptures which he would not change even when we hope or desire that He does. His word He says will never return unto Him void. It is possible in such instances for God to be silent because He has already spoken. When we cultivate the habit of communing with God in Prayer we will hear Him even more as He responds with love and clear assurance, and directions on the issues of life. God speaks all the time. When we drown out all other voices and sit quietly and patiently with trust and confidence in Him we will hear Him. His voice will be accompanied with peace and a confident assurance beyond the shadow of any doubt that God has spoken to us.
What is Praise Dancing?
Praise dancing is a type of dance that is usually incorporated into the praise and worship service in most Churches. It is rendered solely for the purpose of ministry and not as entertainment. Praise dancing receives its endorsement from documented instances in the bible. For instance Psalms 149:3 says "let them praise his name in the dance" Praise dancing is effective when the dancer vertically touches God and horizontally touches man. Praise dancing is therefore ministry and not performance.
Shall We Dance in The Church?
From the onset of time, dancing has been part and parcel of the human life. Many people erroneously believe that dancing is movement that is done in response to music only, but movement transcends music. As long as one can breathe, one can dance. Dancing is nothing more than a combination of movements. The breath of God that is in man is a stimulus for movement. As long as there is life, there is movement. God has crafted us humans in such a way that we automatically respond to music with dancing.
True worship engages the whole being of the worshipper and completely transports him beyond the realms of singing alone. The dancer enunciates the word and brings it to life just as Jesus used the parables in most of His sermons. The purpose of the dance in the Church is primarily to worship God, and secondarily to minister to people. The song Selected for dancing in the Church must not have secular under tones or lyrics, and the dancer must have the will to worship God and not seek recognition or applause from man.Praise dancing when done appropriately will always produce changed or impacted lives.
